Hi, I bought a Logitech Anywhere MX mouse but I am unable to get it installed and working on my Windows 7 Professional x64 computer. When I plug in the Unifying USB dongle, the 'Installing Device Drivers' dialogue appears, and searches for a driver, then fails stating that the driver failed to install. According to this page, the device is compatible with Windows 7 x64: When reporting the issue to Logitech support, they claim that this is a Windows problem and that I should contact Windows support. I have tried this device on 2 Windows 7 x64 computers, one Professional and one Ultimate. On the Ultimate PC it actually installed the first time and worked.
Then I shut down the PC and unplugged the Unifying USB dongle to use at another PC. When I restarted this PC and plugged in the dongle again the device driver installation dialogue appeared again, and this time it failed. I now cannot get this mouse to work on either PC.
Both have all updates applied and are at SP1. This mouse works fine on a number of Windows XP computers. Any assistance would be appreciated. Regards, Patric. Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers? Uninstall the USB Composite devices Unplug the Unifying Receiver. Uninstall the Logitech SetPoint and Unifying software Reboot Install the Logitech SetPoint /and Unifying software Plug the Receiver Then, make sure the Anywhere mouse batteries are correctly inserted.
Keep the battery door closed. Open the mouse's sensor door.

If the mouse does not respond, access the Unifying software and 're-pair' the mouse to the receiver. The Unifying Receiver works in Windows 7.

I have mine with several mouse / trackball and keyboards. This is a persistant issue with Windows 7 64bit. I just got a logitech m570 and am having the same issue. Contacted Logitech, the said it was a windows issue. I followed your instructions, no change. Still shows up in device manager as unknown device under HID after every uninstall an reinstall.
I even tried using their other mouse drivers to no avail. So I now have a $60 paperweight that can't be returned because windows can't make a simple patch. There are many many message boards out there discussing ways to fix this, and it all comes back to windows. I have carpal tunnels and this is the only style of mouse that doesn't make it worse. This is an issue that has apparently been going on for years that somebody could probably fix in a day. Here's what solved it for me under Windows 10. I knew it would be something like this, because the mouse worked fine until I tried to pair it, and then it just stopped working entirely.
The annoying thing was that it would fail every single time I tried to install the software, the moment I'd turn on the mouse. So I used another wired mouse to finish the setup, then went back into the app, went to advanced, and tried to attach just the mouse. That is, I did not go through the normal install procedure, I went into the app after it tried to install it, and.only. configured the mouse. It worked instantly.
Why it didn't work from the installation guide, I have no idea.
